Kathmandu, 2026: The Embassy of India in Kathmandu, Nepal’s Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration, and project implementing agencies have signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for eight High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) across Nepal.
The projects, supported through grant assistance from the Government of India, will focus on the education, health and agriculture sectors and have a combined estimated cost of NPR 803 million (Rs 80.3 crore).
The eight projects include:
- Digitalization of B.P. Koirala Institute of Health and Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan, Sunsari.
- Construction of an Agricultural Production Collection and Sales Centre in Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality–9, Bhojpur.
- Construction of a Municipal Agricultural and Livestock Centre in Jwalamukhi Rural Municipality–6, Dhading.
- Construction of the Belbari Multiple Campus building in Belbari Municipality–3, Morang.
- Construction of a 10-bed hospital in Dungeshwor Rural Municipality–5, Dailekh.
- Construction of an Agriculture Promotion Centre in Sarkegad Rural Municipality–4, Humla.
- Construction of a cold store in Kaligandaki Rural Municipality–4, Syangja.
- Construction of a 15-bed hospital building in Barju Rural Municipality, Sunsari.
The projects will be implemented through local authorities and institutions of the Government of Nepal.
Since the HICDP programme began in 2003, India has undertaken 605 projects across Nepal, including the eight projects covered by the latest MoUs. Of these, 512 projects have been completed, covering sectors such as health, education, agriculture, drinking water, connectivity, sanitation and public utilities, while the remaining projects are at various stages of implementation.
The latest agreements further reflect the long-standing development partnership between India and Nepal, with HICDPs aimed at strengthening infrastructure in priority sectors and supporting Nepal’s efforts toward sustainable growth and development.
